I'm a musical theatre vocal coach, director and performing arts educator with 20 years of experience across training, professional performance and education. I’m based in Coulsdon, where I live with my family and our three young children.
GSA trained, formerly Director of Musical Theatre at The BRIT School and now Head of Performing Arts at Hurtwood House. I help singers bring together vocal technique, musical interpretation and acting through song, whether preparing for auditions or singing for enjoyment.
My own journey began at Guildford School of Acting (GSA), where I trained from 2005 to 2008, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. Following graduation, I performed professionally in the UK national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing Benjamin and understudying Joseph across more than 500 performances.
In 2010, I joined The BRIT School, as a teacher of singing and acting in the musical theatre strand. I gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2012, progressed to Assistant Director of Musical Theatre in 2014 and became Director of Musical Theatre in 2016, a position I held until 2025.
During those 15 years, I had the privilege of working with thousands of young performers, many of whom have since established successful careers in the West End, professional theatre and the wider creative industries.
My work at BRIT went far beyond the rehearsal room. I helped shape and develop the school's musical theatre training, with a particular focus on vocal development, acting through song, musical interpretation and performance. I've also directed and musically directed dozens of major productions, giving me a wealth of experience in helping performers bring together the technical, musical and dramatic skills that musical theatre demands.
Alongside my teaching, I've worked professionally as a musical director, musician and composer, including projects with The Young Vic Theatre. As an accomplished pianist and multi-instrumentalist, music has always been at the heart of my work, and I particularly enjoy the creative process of exploring songs, discovering new repertoire and helping performers make a piece of music their own.
In 2025, I became Head of Performing Arts at Hurtwood House, a school internationally recognised for its performing arts. I now lead the school's performing arts provision, continuing to direct productions, develop young performers and support students pursuing further training and professional opportunities.
I believe the best musical theatre performances happen when strong vocal technique meets genuine storytelling.
Of course, developing a healthy, confident and versatile voice is important. But musical theatre is about so much more than singing the right notes. It's about understanding the character, connecting with the lyrics and communicating something that feels truthful and engaging.
Having spent my career working with performers of different ages, abilities and ambitions, I know that no two students are the same. Some arrive full of confidence, while others need a little encouragement to discover what they're capable of. I enjoy working with both.
My teaching is energetic, supportive and individually tailored. I set high standards, but I also believe that progress comes from feeling comfortable enough to experiment, make mistakes and take creative risks.
As a pianist and musical director, I accompany students live in lessons, allowing us to work flexibly with tempo, phrasing, interpretation and musical expression. I can also help with repertoire selection and sourcing sheet music, particularly when preparing for auditions.
Whether we're developing vocal technique, exploring acting through song, preparing a monologue or getting ready for a drama school audition, my aim is to help you develop not just as a singer, but as a confident, thoughtful and individual performer.
Above all, I want lessons to be something you look forward to. A place to be challenged, to make discoveries and to enjoy the process of becoming a better performer.
